The inaugural WitStock festival took place in May, long delayed from its original planned date of 2020 by various lockdowns. But it was worth waiting for!
Despite its short-notice arrangement, stall holders and stakeholders alike all rallied to the cause and produced an amazingly successful event. Opened in style by the Brownies dancing the Maypole, we had food, drink, children’s entertainment, a dog show and many wonderful stalls to browse. Thanks go particularly to MusicWorks, who produced an aural feast throughout the afternoon from their stage set up next to The Chichester Hall. It was so great to get the Witley community back together again!
The WitStock committee says: “ We would like to extend their deepest thanks and appreciation to the Chichester Hall committee for their help and support on the WitStock event.
The Hall offers a space to bring the whole community together and, teamed with the outside space, it has given us so many moments to catch up with each other, to laugh and to smile after two pretty grim years. The Hall is tucked away in one of the most fabulous parts of the country and it's really quite something to spend the whole day there and to watch the sun go down.
Thank you to the committee for making sure that we have a safe hall for the community to use and we hope that Witstock is the first of many more community events to come.”
To celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in June the trustees of The Chichester Hall held a children’s party. The Queen had a Punch and Judy Show in her private gardens for the royal children and we decided to do the same for the children of Witley. We wanted to say thank you to all our local children for having their own birthday parties at the Hall.
Excitement grew as a beautifully designed vintage style advertisement was placed locally. Around 60 children attended and lots of adults, bringing the community together for some old fashioned fun and laughter.
Thanks to generous sponsorship from Fosters Club, we were able to offer the event free of charge.
Everyone enjoyed sweeties and drinks with badges and medals for the winners of the fancy dress. It was a terrific way to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
